Sam Mattson - 1 Year
Well, it's been a year and it has truly gone fast. We've dealt with colds, bronchiolitis, impetigo, bumps, bruises and assorted trips to the doctor and even a couple of nights at the hospital. We seen Sam start to crawl and now pull himself up to stand. Walking is next. Sam even has an ever growing vacabulary. He says cat, dog and zebra...even if it does sound like dat, dooj and duwah. He's on his way to Yale!!!

Sam wanted a pony...Sam got a pony. |

Sam's first Halloween. He was a very brave bumblebee. |

Sam has developed a slightly scary taste for striped leisure suits. |

Wow...he's just so damn cute. |
 |
Sam is very adept at both crawling and pausing in his beefcake pose. |
 |
Sam's first birthday at the Mattson grandparents' house. He is no longer a "none-year-old". |
Sam Mattson - Month 9
Sam, Sam, Sam....where do we begin. Sam is now on the edge of crawling, feeding himself (occasionally) and has out grown some of his 18 month sized clothes. Now weighing in at a svelte 26 pounds and is holding firm in the 95th percentile. The phrase we've grown accustomed to hearing is, "My, he's a bruiser!" Yes he is, and we wouldn't trade for all the little babies in the world.

Sam meeting the people during his campaign for Governor. Unfortunately he was forced to quit the race after certain pictures became public. |
 |
But our Sam bounced back from the disappointment with the help of his Uncle Tom (Cabin not included). |
Sam Mattson - Month 6
It's been a busy three months for Sam. He's eating solid food, sitting up by himself, laughing at appropriate times during jokes and has written his first sonata. He's not pleased with it and is determined not to play it for anyone. Sheesh...kids. Sam was measured last week at his check up and is 21.7 lbs. (95 percentile) and 27 inches long/tall (90 percentile). We're very proud of our not-so-little guy. He's currently sleeping a solid 10-12 hours a night which makes his parents very happy.
 |
Sam is now in his Summer wardrobe. It shows off all the work he's been doing in the gym. |
 |
Sam is modeling his swing. It fits now, but at the rate he's growing he'll be too big to use it by August. |
 |
Sam sits up. It is a great day. |
 |
Eating "solid" food. He mastered the spoon very quickly. Big surprise. |
 |
Sam, now waits expectantly for his meal. If it doesn't show up...well, we don't want to get into that. |
 |
This is from Sam's first original show entitled, "Baby Robin Feeding". He'll be opening at the Schubert next May. |
Sam Mattson - Month 3
Well, a lot has happened in the last three months. Lots of sleeping and eating and...the result of eating....if you know what I mean. Sam is now a healthy baby and is sleeping through the night in his crib. At his 2 month check up he was 50 percentile of height and 97 percentile of weight. We've changed our long range plans for Sam from 2nd baseman for the Red Sox to down lineman for the Patriots. So, here are some new shots of the SamBlaster [Click on the thumbnail to see a larger picture].

The struggle for couch supremacy between dog and boy is a never ending battle. |
 |
This is Sam's favorite neutral expression. It can mean content, happy, bored or the one we like best "I'm not crying". |

I titled this one "The danger of horizontal stripes". or "Sama the Hutt". |

Sam Mattson - Day 1
He's arrived!!! We're now a family of three. Samuel Aaron Mattson arrived at Milford Regional Hospital by C-section on December 17th, 2005 at 8:38 PM. Jen and Sam are doing well. We'll have more picture as he gets taller, but a few of the big day are below. [Click on them to see a larger image]
 |
The first picture of Sam. Notice the red hair. This picture will be used to embarrass him once he's in high school |
 |
As we had to deliver by C-section I got to do my best ER doctor impression. My clearest memory is the doctor saying, "Don't touch anything that's blue." When he was being handed from the doctor to the nurse to be cleaned up he grabbed the the doctor by the shirt. He's got some serious paws. |
 |
Sam was about an hour old in this picture. It may be misplaced fatherly pride, but the kid seems really aware for being 60 minutes old. |
 |
Jen went through about 70% of her labor before getting an epidural. This shot shows the power of modern pain killers and popsicles. |
 |
Jen and Sam. The funny thing was we had a bunch of names picked out and neither Sam or Aaron were on the short list, but after seeing him we realized that none of the names on the final list fit him. After a night's sleep we decided on Samuel Aaron. |
 |
Another shot of the little marvel. He looks just like Jen's baby pictures, but he's got Mattson hands and feet. Meaning by puberty he should be able to palm a basketball and be in the sequel to "My Left Foot". |
I count myself
very lucky to have a wonderful wife and a great home to come back
to at the end of each day. My wife and I got married on October
17th, 1999 and built a house in Upton, MA the following year.
While many couples say that building a house the quickest path
to divorce, we had a great time and would do it again as long
as we got the same builder. Kevin Lobisser of Milford, MA was
fantastic and we highly recommend him.

My
wife Jen
I met my wife at an audition and while neither of us got cast
in the show, it was the best night at the theater I've ever had.
Jen is a amazingly talented performer who I'm lucky enough to
be able to call on to originate many roles in my own scripts.
By day she runs an extended day program in Framingham, MA.

Our house in Upton, MA
We rescued two cats, Rhoda
and Gordon from the Buddy
Dog Humane Society in Sudbury, MA and then four years later
went back and rescued Camille and Farley. We lost Rhoda in the
fall of 2003 to a medical problem, but hope to have the rest of
our menagerie for years to come.
